Kids in grades 1st through High School are invited to participate in our photo contest. Final images will be displayed at The Taste of Des Plaines. You do not need to be present to participate.

We are asking that images be printed in 5X7 and mounted or matted to 8X10 or 8.5x11. You can buy a mat or use poster board or think paper to mount your image. Links will be provided in the information and reminders emails. Make sure to sign up so your child doesn't miss it!

Absolutely! You can use whatever camera you have access to and are comfortable with.

CONTEST RULES

Photo must be taken in the current year (2024)
Photo must be printed in 5X7
Mount photo on 8x10 mount board (heavy cardstock paper or posterboard cut to size will work as substitute) with photo mounts or adhesive spray.
Fitzgerald Studio will hold an open house where you can bring your printed images and mount in studio with guidance (supplies provided).

One entry per child is allowed.
All photos MUST be labeled on the back of the mount board with the following:

Photographers Grade in 2023-24 School Year
Photographers School
Contact Phone Number

Age Brackets will be the 2022-2023 school year:

Primary (K through 2)
Intermediate: (3-5th)
Middle School (6th through 8th)
High School (Freshman through graduating Senior)

Age brackets will be combined if there are a low amount of entries.
Theme: Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Entries can be dropped off at FITZGERALD STUDIO during the open house on June 10th 1pm - 7pm or June 13th 4-6pm, or at the front desk of the Des Plaines Public Library (Please place in envelope marked attention: Heather Imoff).
OPEN HOUSE: Kids can sign up to come into the studio and use studio supplies to mount their images. Photos must be printed and brought in to be mounted. We cannot print this day.
All entries MUST be delivered no later than June 13th by 6:00 PM
Entries will be voted on by the community at the Taste of Des Plaines.
One winner from each age group will be selected in each category.
Taste of Des Plaines Attendees will be able to vote for their favorite images from June 17th at 5pm - June 18th at 3pm.
Winners will be contacted on June 18th at 5pm. Winners will also be listed on thefitzgeraldstudio.com/youthphotocontest
Winners will receive: Amazon or local establishments Gift Cards and will be presented to the winners at the Taste of Des Plaines and recognized in the Des Plaines Journal.
